Jeanne Baxtresser: Cherished Treasures Signed and Sold

SHOP, LOOK, AND LISTEN! A HUGE "One-of-a-Kind" PFC celebration took place on Saturday, October 20, 2007!

The PFC board is VERY excited to reflect upon our UNIQUE fall event. We called it Jeanne Baxtresser: "Cherished Treasures, Signed and Sold." And, it was exactly as advertised: Jeanne Baxtresser's PERSONAL flute memorabilia and performance related items were gathered, displayed and sold on Saturday, October 20 at the Flute Academy in Oakland. Ms. Baxtresser has magnanimously directed the proceeds from this event to benefit the Pittsburgh Flute Club. She was present ALL DAY to "autograph" items and related any "history" behind these revered souvenirs.

A word from Ms. Baxtresser about the day:

"As most flutists do, I have treasured the flute memorabilia and keepsakes I have collected and received over the years. This all started when I first began my lessons on the flute at the age of nine years old! I am thrilled I can now pass these items on to other flutists so they can enjoy them, as I have.

Ms. Baxtresser also organized a lecture/masterclass titled Lyricism and Line - Melodic Interpretation through the use of Tone Colors and Vibrato. This class featured the current flute studio at Carnegie Mellon University. It truly was a magnificent day! We were blessed by the generosity and knowledge that Ms. Baxtresser had to offer.

The core activity is the adjudication. Students get to perform a solo piece for a panel of judges composed of members from professional musical organizations in and around Pittsburgh.
